Product Update: Send Postcards and Letters with USPS Standard Mail

Today we are happy to announce a new Mail Class option for our postcard and letter offerings: USPS Standard Mail! By default today, we send all postcards and letters as USPS First Class Mail, which is a faster and more predictable mail delivery option offered by the USPS. For businesses that can benefit from it, Lob is now offering USPS Standard Mail as a new delivery option for all of our customers!

When should I use Standard Mail?

Standard Mail is a cheaper delivery option, but is less predictable and takes longer to deliver than First Class. First Class Mail is typically delivered between 4-6 business days from your API request to Lob, while Standard Mail can take anywhere between 7 to 21 business days, as the USPS does not provide delivery time guarantees for Standard Mail.

If you have a use case that is time sensitive, we do not recommend using Standard Mail. However, if you don't mind the longer and less predictable delivery times, Standard Mail is a great option to save money. For certain marketing or non-time sensitive operational use cases, this may be a great option for your business to consider.

Note: Standard Mail can not be sent outside of the US.

How do I get started?

As always, please reach out to us with any comments, questions, or feedback you may have. We love hearing from you and are always improving our offerings based on your thoughts!
