How INTELLIscribe Works

A user prints a file from any application to a Windows printer. This printer is configured to print through INTELLIscribe.
Using the print driver, the application formats the data specifically for the printer. When finished, the formatted print file is placed in the Windows print manager, commonly called the "spooler".
INTELLIscribe then intercepts the print job from the Windows spooler. Using this method allows INTELLIscribe to print to virtually any type of printer without affecting either the application or the Windows print manager.
Finally, INTELLIscribe spools the print job to the destination(s) configured in the "Virtual Printer Port". Almost any TCP/IP addressable printer or print server will work.

Define Multiple Ports

Every Windows printer uses a port. When more than one printer uses the same port the Windows' spooler blocks jobs from even starting until all previous jobs are done. By defining multiple ports INTELLIscribe lets Windows print as efficiently as it can.

Queues

INTELLIscribe has some great features for managing multiple destinations. By organizing destinations into queues and associating each port with a queue, INTELLIscribe makes the operation completely straight forward and more efficient.

Destination Retry & Failure

When INTELLIscribe fails to transmit a job to the configured destination INTELLIscribe analyzes the reason why. If the cause is something that may change over time, e.g. "too many connections, try again later", then:

INTELLIscribe will retry automatically, up to five times, before failing the destination.
INTELLIscribe gives the job every reasonable chance to succeed instead of bombing out when the job fails.
INTELLIscribe gives you choices on how to handle this automatically.
