RPM allows users to customize and control processing of print jobs received over a TCP/IP network from host systems including mainframes, AS/400s, UNIX and Linux, and other Windows systems.

The RPM Work Flow

RPM receives print data from any host system sent via the LPR/LPD or Telnet printing protocols.
RPM processes the print data according to options configured in the queue. These options identify how the print data is converted, modified, formatted, or named. Print data can also be sent completely untouched, making RPM a central pass-through for print jobs.
RPM passes the print job to the Windows Print Manager or saves the file to disk. When using a text queue, RPM uses the print driver to format the data with text options such as fonts, margins, lines per inch, etc.

Text Queue

The text queue supports printing from the host system to unsupported PC print devices. Text printing sets RPM apart from all LPD products. The ability to handle many text formats intelligently has been a key reason for IT professionals and administrators to make the switch from their existing print server to RPM.

Raw Queue

RPM takes the data it receives from the host system and processes print the data without modification as if the printer was connected directly to the host system through a parallel or serial connection.

Filter Queue

Incoming data (from any system; mainframe or Windows) can be saved to disk (print to file) for archiving or data manipulation purposes. RPM checks for duplicate filenames before saving and has many file naming options.
